Kathmandu. Relief, search and rescue operations are continuing after the devastating floods in Rasuwa, Nepal. According to the report of the National Disaster Management Authority of Nepal’s Home Ministry till 11 am today, bodies of 903 people have been recovered so far, while 4,247 people are still missing.
According to the authority, the bodies recovered so far include 24 bodies from Rasuwa, 95 from Nuwakot, 55 from Dhading, 62 from Gorkha, 207 from Nawalparasi East, 151 from Nawalparasi West, 37 from Tanahun and 272 from Chitwan.
These also include many unidentified human remains. So far, reports of 4247 people being contactless have been registered with various bodies of the Government of Nepal.
According to government figures, the missing include 25 employees of Nepal Police, 45 of Nepali Army, 13 of Armed Police Force, 15 of Custom Office and 3 of Immigration Office. Apart from this, 865 people have been reported missing in Rasuwa and 1,558 in Nuwakot.
The missing also include 933 people associated with hydropower projects, 65 from Makwanpur, 592 foreign nationals, 127 Nepalese nationals traveling with foreigners, 3 from Langtang National Park and 3 from the quarantine office.
According to the Nepal government, a total of 10,451 people have been evacuated safely so far. 252 foreign nationals and 3,344 Nepali nationals were safely evacuated in an air rescue operation by the Nepalese Army.
According to reports, 15 Chinese and 7 Indian nationals have also been rescued from hydropower projects till August 30. So far, 411 helicopter flights have been operated, including 17 flights on August 31.
A total of 267 people have been injured in the flood. Of these, 156 people have been discharged from the hospital. Six surgical medical teams have also been deployed in the affected areas. A total of 20,819 security personnel are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
These include 7,894 personnel of Nepal Police, 8,722 personnel of Nepali Army and 4,203 personnel of Armed Police Force. The authority said that unidentified bodies have been kept in 21 hospitals in different districts.
The work of identification and management of dead bodies is ongoing. Under the availability of fuel in the affected areas, there is a stock of 25 thousand liters of diesel, 21 thousand liters of petrol and 10 thousand liters of aviation fuel.
