Dholpur. Three sisters jumped into a pond to save their brother who was drowning in the Sarmathura subdivision area of Dholpur district in eastern Rajasthan. All four brothers and sisters died due to drowning in this tragic accident that took place in Birja area of Angai police station area in the early hours of Sunday.
All the deceased had reached here last night to attend the fair organized in the area and this accident happened in the early hours of Saturday. The police conducted post-mortem of the bodies of the four deceased at the government hospital in Sarmathura and handed over the bodies to their families.
Angai police station in-charge Kripal Singh said that Ravi alias Bholu, a resident of Nathuapura Moroli of Kotwali police station of Dholpur city, had come on Saturday night along with other members of his family to attend the fair organized at Hiraman Baba’s Dham near Birja village of Angai police station area.
At around 6 am on Sunday morning, Ravi along with other members had gone to take a bath in a nearby pond. Then suddenly Ravi alias Bholu went into deep water and started drowning.
Seeing Ravi drowning, his two real sisters Manorama and Boto and a cousin sister Kallo alias Nisha also entered the water to save him.
But while saving Ravi, the three sisters also went into deep water and drowned. On receiving information about the accident, Angai police station reached the spot and with the help of other family members and other villagers, pulled everyone out of the pond, but by then they had died.
Angai police station in-charge Kripal Singh said that the deceased who became victims of the accident in the pond include Ravi alias Bholu (21), son of Laik Singh, his real sister Manorama (22) and Boto (25), daughter of Laik Singh and cousin sister Kallo alias Nisha (18), daughter of Bhabhuti, resident of Nathuapura Moroli police station Kotwali district Dholpur.
According to the police and family members, deceased Ravi’s sister Manorama and Boto had come to Pehar from their in-laws to celebrate Rakshabandhan. Later on Saturday night, both the sisters along with the people of Pehar Paksha had gone to the Dham of Hiraman Baba to perform Jaat.
Then this accident happened. The police conducted post-mortem of the bodies of the four deceased at the government hospital in Sarmathura and handed over the bodies to their families.
Rakshabandhan, the festival of eternal love between brother and sister, came as a mourning for the family of Laik Singh of Dholpur. In the accident that took place in Birja of Angai police station area, the companionship and love of brothers and sisters remained intact till their death.
Seeing brother Ravi drowning, two sisters also entered the water to save him. Not only this, the daughter of Laik Singh’s brother Bhabhuti Prasad also died in this accident. And four members of this family died in death.
Nirmal Singh, brother of the deceased Ravi alias Bholu, told that Ravi’s father Laik Singh had died about five years ago. Ravi and his two real sisters Manorama and Boto died in the accident that took place in the pond of Birja village in Angai area.
Now two brothers Jagdish and Vinod are left in the family. Ravi’s cousin sister Kallo alias Nisha has died in the accident. The police conducted post-mortem of the dead bodies at the government hospital in Sarmathura and handed over their bodies to their families.
On Sunday evening, the last rites of deceased Ravi and his cousin sister Kallo alias Nisha were performed in Nathuapura village of Dholpur Kotwali area.
Seeing two pyres of two members of one family burning together, people’s eyes became moist and people were cursing the actions of the creator.
On the other hand, Ravi’s sister Manorama, who lost her life in the accident, was cremated at her in-laws’ house in Mohri village of Badi area and another real sister Boto was cremated at Gangapur village in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.
Deceased Ravi’s brother Nirmal Singh told that the entire family was together on Raksha Bandhan festival and Rakhi was tied during the day. After this, the family members went to the Jat organized at the Dham of Hiraman Baba and this tragic accident happened.
