Food delivery app is the key to fulfilling dreams! You can order food as you like at home. Within half an hour it will appear in front of the face. But this time Zomato, one of the most popular food apps in the country, took a strange decision. The app will not be available to buy multiple items of cheese! But why?
Although it looks exactly like cheese, analog cheese is not directly used to make liquid milk. This cheese is made by mixing vegetable oil, starch etc. with multiple artificial ingredients and milk solids. However, the price is much lower than the original dairy cheese, so analog cheese is used in many restaurants and cafes across the country.
Analogue cheese is very different in taste from dairy cheese. However, it is not caught by the tongue of ordinary people. But the 'fake' paneer hit the headlines in late July, when it was accidentally served to Maharashtra's Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Munde. Since then, the sale of analogue cheese and cooking using it has been banned.
Online food delivery platform Zomato has banned Analogue Dairy products due to this incident. The organization has banned all foods made with 'analog dairy' on its platform. Reportedly, they have adopted a 'zero tolerance' policy for the sale of food using analogue dairy products. Food listings created using Analog Dairy have already been removed from the platform.
Several states including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have already banned the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of fake cheese.
Restaurant partners are asked to take immediate steps to comply with the new policy.
• Foods that used to be made with analog cheese, now have to be made with real cheese.
• Analogue cheese-based foods should be removed from the menu if immediate change is not possible.
• The product labels and ingredient details provided by the suppliers should be verified, to ensure the ingredients used and to provide accurate information about the food listed on Zomato.

How do you know if the cheese on your plate is real?
Analogue cheese is usually used in gravy-korma-like chutneys in restaurants, so that its taste is overshadowed. Not as savory as dairy cheeses, this cheese is quite tasty. Normal cheese is soft, analog cheese feels a bit rubbery when pressed between two fingers. If you want to eat cheese, you must judge whether it is pure or not.
