Aligarh. The years-old ancestral property dispute of the family of film actor Chandrachur Singh has now reached the police. Actor's brother and film director Abhimanyu Singh (Chandrachur Singh) has filed a case against seven people regarding the family's ancestral property worth crores of rupees and an old mansion in Aligarh. In the complaint, serious allegations have been made such as preparation of fake will, use of forged documents, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
The police have registered a case and started investigating the matter. According to officials, statements of all parties will be recorded and documents related to the property, including the disputed will, will be examined. At present all the allegations made in the complaint are under investigation.
Seven people were nominated
On the complaint of Abhimanyu Singh, a case was registered in Rorawar police station on 14 August. Gayatri Devi, Jai Singh, Anjani Singh, Robin Ekson, Sandeep Kumar Singh, Shiv Kumar and advocate Ajit Singh Tomar have been named in this.
According to the complaint, an attempt was made to transfer the family's ancestral property into its name allegedly on the basis of a fake and unregistered will. It is alleged that on the basis of this document, the name was transferred in the revenue records and later the ancestral lands were sold.
The disputed property is said to include many ancestral lands along with the old mansion, the value of which is said to be crores of rupees.
Reference to registered will of 1994
Abhimanyu Singh has also mentioned the old documents of the property in the application given to the police. According to him, his grandmother Sita Devi had made a registered will on 18 October 1994. In this, she had given her property in the name of her husband Harendra Pal Singh.
According to the complainant, Sita Devi died in the year 1995. After this Harendra Pal Singh became the heir to the family's property. He died on 31 January 1997 at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi.
It is from here that the complainant has raised questions regarding the disputed will.
Accused of making a will a day before death
Abhimanyu Singh alleges that just a day before the death of Harendra Pal Singh, i.e. on January 30, 1997, an alleged fake and unregistered will was prepared. The complaint states that through this alleged will, a large part of the ancestral property was mentioned in the name of Gayatri Devi, her daughter Anjani Singh and son Jai Singh.
The complainant questioned the validity of the will, claiming that Harendra Pal Singh was seriously ill and bed-ridden since December 1996. He alleges that his condition was such that he was not in a position to read and write properly and even recognize people. In such a situation, the claim of preparing the will just a day before death raises doubts.
However, whether the will is actually fake or valid can be decided only after investigation and further judicial process.
Statement of family member also mentioned
The complaint also mentions the alleged statement of family member Girja Kumari alias Girja Manchandani. According to the complainant, Girja Kumari said that no such will was made before her and the signatures on the said document were also not genuine.
Abhimanyu Singh has described this alleged statement as an important basis in support of his allegations. The police will now examine the documents and statements of the people concerned.
Questions on the role of witness and lawyer also
In the complaint, it has been said that Sandeep Kumar Singh has been named as a witness to the alleged will. Abhimanyu Singh has also accused him of being involved in the alleged fraud.
Apart from this, the complaint has accused Ganga Singh and advocate Ajit Singh Tomar of being involved in the conspiracy to prepare the alleged will. The complainant claims that on the basis of this will, the name transfer was done in the Revenue Court and later the process of transfer of ancestral lands was taken forward.
If these allegations are found to be true in the investigation, then the scope of the police investigation can extend beyond the will to revenue records, land sales and the documents used.
Complaint made to authorities earlier also
This controversy is not new. It has come to light that Chandrachud Singh and his brother Abhimanyu Singh had earlier also complained to senior officials regarding property. Both brothers have also met SSP and DM regarding this matter.
On the other hand, the other side has also said that allegations will be made against both the brothers. In such a situation, it will be important for the police to impartially investigate the claims and documents of all parties.
Police started investigation
According to Rorawar police station in-charge Ravindra Chandrawal, a case has been registered in the matter and investigation has been started. The police will record the statements of all concerned parties and examine the available documents.
In the investigation, special attention will be paid to whether the alleged will is genuine or fake, the signatures made on it, the circumstances of preparation of the document, the role of witnesses and the process of mutation in the revenue records.
The dispute may further go to court
This dispute related to ancestral property worth crores of rupees and old mansion may also reach the court. The police will investigate criminal charges, while the actual title to the property and the validity of the alleged will can be decided under the process of a competent court.
At present, the allegations made in the case have not been confirmed and it would not be appropriate to hold any accused guilty before the investigation is completed. Now the police investigation will make it clear how much truth is there in the allegations made regarding the alleged will and property documents.
