Brishti Mukherjee, daughter of Nihar Mukherjee, cousin of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, died under suspicious circumstances. His body was recovered from the second floor of his father's house in Kusumba village, Rampurhat in Birbhum district. According to initial information, suicide is suspected, but the actual cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Tezzbuzz Desk- At around 9 am on Tuesday morning, Brishti's body was found hanging on the second floor of the house. As soon as information about the incident was received, Rampurhat police reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
The police are currently investigating the entire matter. The circumstances of death are expected to become more clear only after the post-mortem report comes.
Brishti Mukherjee's name was included in the list of Group-C non-teaching staff of the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) whose appointments were canceled following the court order. In the year 2023, his name appeared in the list of employees terminated from their jobs.
However, the family claimed that Brishti had resigned shortly after joining the job due to health reasons.
Divorce case was going on with husband
It is being told that Brishti Mukherjee was also facing a divorce case with her husband. In some reports, quoting the family, it has been claimed that she was suffering from depression for the last few years and was also undergoing treatment.
However, the police have not yet considered any of these circumstances as the cause of his death. Police is investigating all aspects. Only after the post mortem report and investigation will it be clear under what circumstances Brishti died.
