Patna. In Bihar, the Agriculture Department is moving towards implementing a new digital system to provide fertilizers to the farmers on time and at the right price. Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has announced that farmers will be provided QR code to buy fertilizers, through which they will be able to buy fertilizers from authorized sellers as per the prescribed procedure.
QR code will be valid for three days
Under the new system, the QR code given to farmers will be valid for a limited time. According to the Agriculture Minister, this QR code will remain valid for three days. During this period, farmers will be able to buy fertilizer by going to the authorized fertilizer seller registered in the QR code and making payment as per the prescribed procedure. The aim of the government is to ensure that farmers do not face unnecessary trouble in purchasing fertilizers and the entire process remains within records.
Fertilizer sales system will be digital
The Agriculture Department is working on linking the process of fertilizer distribution and sale with technology. For this, online system has been developed through fertilizer sale application system. Efforts are being made to better monitor the purchase and sale of fertilizers by integration of digital systems like IFMS and Agristack. This can help in finding out at what level and under what process the fertilizer is being distributed.
Farmers get quality fertilizers on time
Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that delivering quality fertilizers to farmers at the right time is one of the major priorities of the department. Availability of fertilizer is very important for farmers during the farming season. For this reason, the department is emphasizing on making the distribution system more organized and accountable. There are plans to strengthen monitoring of fertilizer availability and sales through new technology.
Action will be taken against over pricing and black marketing
The government has clearly indicated that strict action will be taken against those involved in irregularities in the sale of fertilizers. Instructions have been given to take immediate action if complaints of charging more than the prescribed price, hoarding or black marketing are received. The minister told the officials that any irregularities should be taken seriously and the complaints of farmers should be resolved in a timely manner.
