Cash transactions virtually closed over time. Be it Rs.5 tea or expensive goods, almost any payment is done online now. But until now he needed the internet. As a result, feature phone users could not make online transactions. But Phone Pay is bringing a great feature for them. Online payment can also be done on the keypad phone without internet. Which is named as UPI 123Pay.
What is the matter? UPI 123Pay relies on SMS based technology. So this feature will work even on 2G network or where the internet connection is not stable. Send money to friends, store payments, check bank balance, transaction history can also be viewed. More than 20 crore people still use feature phones in India. So this new feature of Phone Pay is expected to be very useful for them. According to the company, feature phone users will get some additional benefits in the future. These will include bill payments, mobile recharge and even Aadhaar-based UPI registration.
But initially only users of certain models of HMD, Nokia, Lava International and Itel Mobile will get the UPI 123Pay facility. More phones are expected to add this internet-free feature soon.
How to activate this service?
1. Launch the pre-installed PhonePe app on your feature phone.
2. Next select your bank.
3. Enter the last six digits of the debit card and its expiry date.
4. Set UPI PIN.
How to pay?
After registering, you can send money using the payee's contact details, mobile number or UPI ID. If your phone has a camera, you can also scan the QR code to make transactions. Just verify the recipient's details, enter the amount and enter the PIN.
