After the severe flood in Nepal, the administration has cautioned the people about the unknown and unusual looking fish found in flood water in some areas of Bihar. The Animal and Fisheries Resources Department has issued an advisory advising neither to eat, buy nor sell such fish. People have been asked not to consider these fishes as edible until they are identified and examined by the department.
In fact, during floods, water from dirty drains, dead animals and other contaminants can be found in rivers and waterlogged areas. The risk of bacteria and viruses can increase through fish living in such water. According to the advisory, there have been reports of some people falling ill after eating such fish. It is advised to immediately contact a doctor if symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, dizziness and difficulty in breathing appear.

According to the advisory of the department, people have been asked not to buy and sell unknown fish caught from flood water in the market. Do not consider any new or strange looking fish as safe to eat without getting it examined and identified by the concerned department.
Why not eat these fish?
During floods, dirty drain water, dead animals and other types of filth also get mixed in the water. Fish living in such water can come in contact with bacteria or viruses. This is the reason why it is currently prohibited to eat such fishes caught from flood waters, which cannot be clearly identified.
Be careful of these symptoms after eating fish
It has also been told in the advisory that if a person has eaten such fish and after that vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, dizziness, difficulty in breathing or any other unusual symptom is seen, then the doctor should be contacted immediately. For this, it has been advised to go to the nearest health center or hospital. The administration has also asked people to inform local authorities if they find such fish. Also, an appeal has been made not to pay attention to rumors and to maintain complete distance from unknown fish in view of one's own safety.

This warning has come a few days after the devastating flash flood in Nepal. According to the report, the death toll due to floods in Nepal has reached 1,050, while about 4,000 people are still reported missing.
