What did Manish Gupta say?
DELL Technologies India Chairman and Managing Director Manish Gupta informed about the new initiative to provide employment to the youth. He said, “New employment opportunities are emerging rapidly in the AI sector in India. These jobs require new skills. There is a huge shortage of skilled workers in this sector. Through this initiative 'Udan', DELL will bridge the gap. This initiative will implement necessary measures to ease the journey from education to employment. This initiative will be implemented on a large scale. For this, it is partnering with educational and training institutes to reach millions of youth.
The increasing use of artificial intelligence requires the creation of skilled manpower. The role of skill development is very important in this. Proper training will create employable youth. This youth will be ready for the changing needs of the industry. Artificial intelligence will be boosted. It will also help the development of new ideas and technologies. This will also strengthen the country's long-term economic progress. Our aim is to use technology for human progress. Dell is committed to India's bright future.”
The initiative 'Udan' is in line with 'Skill India 2.0', 'National Education Policy 2020', 'Make in India' and 'Digital India'. As per the curriculum design of this initiative, the officers of Directorate of Vocational Education and Training and Directorate of Technical Education of the State Government will be involved from the first year itself. This model will be fully documented. The main objective behind the initiative 'UDAN' is to connect the demand of the industry, the capacity of the educational institutions and the future equipped youth with sustainable economic opportunities.
Entrepreneurship has been given priority in this initiative. These industries will be encouraged through innovative concepts, training camps and technical guidance at FITT-IIT Delhi. Under this program, 25 deep-tech startups will be developed among students of higher education institutions in the first year itself. 10 micro-enterprises will be set up with the participation of ITI students. DELL will connect all these entrepreneurs with capital and business network. Dell staff will guide all students for more than 2000 hours. These experts will impart career, AI and interviewing lessons to youngsters who are making their mark in all five industry sectors.
Often other organizations conducting skill development activities prefer to limit themselves to keeping a record of the number of students who have completed the training period. On the contrary, the 'Udaan' initiative focuses on uplifting the quality of life of the youth as well as making them healthy. Under this initiative there is a provision to track the employability and job stability of the apprentice youth even after they get a job.
Trainees will be contacted after a period of 3, 6, 12 and 24 months. Apprenticeship opportunities will be provided through the government portal Nats, Naps to the students who choose other options other than job. Through this, every student will be helped to determine the path of financial progress as well as sustainable employment.
Over the past ten years, DELL technology has fueled school innovation across the country. During this time, the company has prioritized digital literacy, problem solving skills and hands-on learning. Through these efforts, more than 5 crore beneficiaries up to 12th standard could be successfully trained through basic as well as vocational education. Along with this, 'Student Entrepreneurship Program 2.0' is also organized for students in collaboration with Atal Navokpram Abhiyan and NITI Aayog. It is considered a successful initiative that encourages young entrepreneurs and develops new concepts and solutions at the local level.
The implementation of the 'Udan' initiative gave further direction to DELL Technologies' community development work. Basically, this initiative has been developed on the basis of strong school ecosystem in the country. This initiative is being implemented by combining the changing needs related to employment in the country with the future manpower requirement. DELL will continue the implementation of the international program 'Solar Community Hub' along with the 'Udan' initiative, the company said. Through this international program, various sections of the society are developed up to digital skills.
