Monsoon may once again gain strength in many parts of the country today i.e. on 3rd September. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), an alert of very heavy rain has been issued at some places in Eastern Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Western Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim.

Heavy rain alert in 15 states
According to the Meteorological Department, today i.e. on 3 September 2026, an alert of torrential rain has been issued in 15 states of India. These include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, West Bengal, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Kerala. Along with the rain, there is also a possibility of winds blowing at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
Heavy rain alert in East Madhya Pradesh
Today i.e. on 3rd September, the weather in East Madhya Pradesh may be worst. There is a possibility of very heavy rain at some places. Also, there may be heavy rain at some places in Western Madhya Pradesh.
Apart from this, there is also a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning in eastern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh. The pronounced low pressure area formed over North-Eastern Madhya Pradesh and surrounding areas is also affecting the weather.
Heavy rain in western Uttar Pradesh
There is a possibility of very heavy rain at isolated places in western Uttar Pradesh on September 3. There may be heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning. Along with this, there may be heavy rain at some places in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh also. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Delhi along with Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on September 3.
Alert of very heavy rain in Vidarbha also
Today, there is a possibility of very heavy rain at isolated places in Vidarbha in Central India. There may be heavy rain at some places in Chhattisgarh. Apart from this, according to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning in many parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Chance of rain in Bengal-Sikkim
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather pattern may change in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on September 3. There may be very heavy rain at some places. Heavy rain is expected at some places in Bihar also. Also, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya along with Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
There will be reduction in rain in South India
Rain activities may reduce over Peninsular India during the next one week. However, on September 3, there is a possibility of thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana and interior parts of Karnataka. There is a possibility of heavy rain in coastal Karnataka.
