Padmaavat Controversy: Controversy is continuously increasing over actress Swara Bhaskar's statement regarding 'Johar'. Now the matter has moved from social media debate to the streets. The whole controversy started with the Jauhar scene of the film 'Padmavat'. Let us tell you that during a program in Delhi, Swara Bhaskar raised questions on the scene of the film in which a large number of Rajput women were shown performing Jauhar.

Swara said that such a portrayal can send a wrong message about today's women who want to move forward with their lives by avoiding horrific incidents like sexual violence. He raised the question whether a woman does not have the right to live after being tortured. After this statement of Swara, she was trolled fiercely on social media. Some people called his statement an insult to the courage and sacrifice of Rajput women and Queen Padmavati. Amidst this protest, a demonstration took place in Agra.
According to reports, the demonstration was led by Yogi Youth Brigade state president Kunwar Ajay Tomar. Protestors protesting against Swara's statement burnt her posters and raised slogans against her. Meanwhile, it has come to light that a reward of ₹ 1.51 lakh has been announced for cutting Swara's tongue. However, amidst this controversy, Swara Bhaskar has also given clarification on her statement. He said that he never called Queen Padmavati or the women who committed Jauhar as cowards. He claims that his statement was misinterpreted and his point of view was misrepresented. Swara clarified that her question was not about the courage of the women who committed Jauhar, but about the portrayal of Jauhar and its message in the film.

On the other hand, 'Padmaavat' writer Prakash Kapadia has defended the scene of Jauhar and said that an attempt was made to show the historical circumstances and realities of that time in the film. This means that now there are two different sides in this whole controversy. On one hand, Swara Bhaskar is questioning the portrayal of Johar and its message in the film, while on the other hand, her statement is being opposed by calling it an insult to Rajput history and the sacrifice of women. However, no matter how intense the political or social debate is, the method of protest should be within the ambit of law. At present, Swara Bhaskar's statement, Agra protest and announcement of reward of ₹ 1.51 lakh – all three have once again brought this old Padmaavat controversy into the headlines.
