The foreign minister is on a visit to Ukraine and Poland from September 3 to 5. On reaching Kiev on Thursday, he also held a meeting with that country's Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha. In addition to bilateral relations, several important issues including the Russian-Ukraine war, attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea were discussed in the meeting. According to sources, Jaishankar has informed that India is ready to help in Ukraine war. Not only that, India is also willing to mediate if needed, the foreign minister said. This is Jaishankar's first visit to Ukraine after the start of Russia-Ukraine war.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed a message of peace in his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the 26th SCO Summit (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan recently. The two 'friends' shake hands and cuddle before the meeting begins. Modi said, “Every day of war takes humanity backwards. So we have to move from endless war to ending war. Both countries have to move forward keeping national interest in mind.” According to analysts, Jaishankar's visit to Ukraine after the Prime Minister's message is quite significant.
