Dahi Handi Festival in Maharashtra is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Govinda participates in large numbers on the occasion of this Dahi Handi festival. Different Govinda teams are trying their best to make this day historic in Mumbai city as well as in the eastern and western suburbs.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Administration has given special instructions to the hospital to be prepared to prevent any untoward incident during Dahi Handi on the day of Gokulashtami. In these, injured Govindas should be given free treatment, Deans of hospitals, Chief Medical Superintendents and Medical Superintendents are instructed to be ready for the treatment of Govindas.
Keeping in mind the possibility of Govindas getting injured during the Dahi Handi event, an important cultural identity of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, special treatment facilities have been made available at Lokmanya Tilak Sarvopachar Hospital in Shiv, Raje Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Parel and Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central. Also, 105 beds have been kept ready in 16 suburban hospitals. Each of these hospitals has 5 to 10 beds.
Under this system, minor injured Govindas are given first aid as per the prescribed procedure and are sent home. Meanwhile, treatment facilities will also be provided for those Govindas who are seriously injured and require long-term treatment. For this, the Municipal Corporation has deployed medical officers and staff in 3 shifts.
Instructions have been given to keep all medicines, injections and surgical items, POP ready in the municipal hospitals. X-ray and other machines have also been kept ready. Through the administration, instructions have also been given to all the hospitals and health systems of the Municipal Corporation that all the hospital employees and doctors should remain alert during this period.
