New Delhi: Heavy rainfall in Delhi on Friday created widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions across the capital. Amid the monsoon chaos, Congress MP Brijendra Singh shared a video claiming that he was stuck inside a waterlogged tunnel of the Dwarka Expressway and launched an attack on the central government over the condition of the infrastructure project.
'Stuck For An Hour': Congress MP Shares Video From Waterlogged Tunnel
Sharing visuals from inside the tunnel, Brijendra Singh claimed that he had been stranded for nearly an hour due to water accumulation on the expressway. He questioned the quality and planning of the project while highlighting its high construction cost.

“The tunnel I've been stuck in for an hour now was built by the Modi government at a cost of ₹250 crore per kilometre,” Singh said in his social media post.
Political Row Over Dwarka Expressway After Delhi Rains
The Congress MP also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks during the inauguration of the Dwarka Expressway in 2024, when the project was described as a major step towards improving connectivity between Delhi and Haryana.
Singh's video quickly sparked a political debate, with opposition leaders using the waterlogging incident to question the government's infrastructure claims.
Heavy Rain Brings Delhi-NCR To Standstill
The national capital witnessed intense rainfall on Friday, leading to waterlogging in several areas, traffic jams and disruptions in daily life. Parts of Delhi, including major roads and commercial zones, were affected due to the downpour.
At the Indira Gandhi International Airport, flight operations were impacted, with several flights diverted due to adverse weather conditions.
IMD Issues Rain Alert For Delhi
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of more rainfall activity in Delhi-NCR and advised people to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and waterlogged areas.
The Dwarka Expressway incident has added another political flashpoint amid continuing concerns over urban drainage and infrastructure preparedness during extreme weather events.
