Hollywood star George Clooney has dismissed the possibility of running for president of the United States.
The Ocean’s Eleven star says the Democratic Party needs younger voices and new ideas rather than candidates from his generation.
The Oscar winner, who is a prominent supporter and donor of the Democratic Party, shared his perspective on American politics.
Speaking at an event in Venice on Friday, September 4, George said: “I am 65 years old, and I think that we need some young voices that are coming up with new ideas and some new thoughts.”
“I would be more than excited to support anyone but not people who are my age or older. I think we need to get some younger people in.”
The actor has previously publicly criticized then-President Joe Biden’s age during the 2024 presidential campaign.
In a New York Times op-ed published in July 2024, he called on Biden, who was 81 at the time, to withdraw from the race.
George has been a vocal critic of US President Donald Trump, who has responded to his opposition and called him out in recent times.
