Keralam Accident: Tragic road accident in Thrissur, Kerala, tragic death of 8 engineering students from Tamil Nadu; Case registered against the driver

Kerala Accident: A heart-wrenching tragic road accident took place in Thrissur, Kerala when a speeding car rammed into the back of a goods lorry parked on the highway at Panambikunnu in Kaipamangalam. The collision was so terrible that the front part of the car was completely shattered and 8 people traveling in it died on the spot. All of them are said to be engineering students. The accident occurred at Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam at around 11:40 pm on Friday night.

Identification of the dead
The impact of the collision was so severe that six students died on the spot, while two others were declared dead when taken to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Surya, Yuvasanjeet, Vishwa and Johua of Dindigul and Santosh and Prasanna of Madurai, while efforts are on to identify two other students. After a lot of effort, local residents, police and fire brigade personnel took out the bodies from the damaged car and sent them to the mortuary of Thrissur Medical College.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and trying to find out the circumstances under which the car collided with the parked lorry.

Case of culpable homicide registered against absconding lorry driver
Police investigation has revealed that due to construction work, barricades were installed on the road and the lorry driver had parked his vehicle illegally on the right side of the road near the barricaded portion. Due to darkness and the high speed of the car, the driver probably could not see the barrier and the parked lorry in time.
