Bollywood's evergreen star Anil Kapoor, known for his energy and unique screen presence in the world of television and OTT, is once again ready to make a comeback on the small screen. The new promotional teaser and theme song of Star Plus and JioHotstar's upcoming much-talked-about quiz reality show 'India Ke Top 1%' has been released by the makers, which has taken social media by storm as soon as it was released. In this latest teaser, the 68-year-old actor is seen in his famous signature 'Jhakas' swag. The biggest USP of the teaser is Anil Kapoor's all-black traditional Qawwali-inspired ensemble and the tune that plays with it. Standing at the center of the stage, the way Anil Kapoor interacted with the audience with his familiar smile, eye expressions and tremendous energy has increased the curiosity about the show manifold. In the teaser, the actor is seen making it clear that this is not an ordinary quiz show where degrees and rote history-geography will be tested, but it is a test of India's sharpest minds and everyday understanding. 'Baat Khatki to Jeet Pakki': The formula to win Rs 1 crore is not bookish knowledge, but common sense. Indian television has been dominated for decades by legendary shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, where the contestant's knowledge, academic studies and general knowledge (GK) are rigorously tested. But the philosophy of 'India's Top 1%' is completely different from this. The main tagline of the show has been kept 'Baat Khatki To Jeet Pakki', which emphasizes that sometimes in life, small things are in front of our eyes but we ignore them. According to Siddharth Basu, the official consultant of the show and the father of Indian quizzing, the basic objective of this show is to test how well a person has logical thinking ability, pattern recognition skills, observation power and presence of mind. Anil Kapoor has also given the same message in the teaser of the show that success is not determined only by degrees from big colleges, but the common sense of taking the right decision on the spot is what makes a person stand apart from the crowd and reach the 1% elite club. The questions will be such that even a school child can solve them with his understanding, but they can become a puzzle even for a senior professor. 100 contestants and a huge arena without hot seats: How is this game show completely different from KBC? 'India's Top 1%' is the official Indian adaptation of the world famous British reality show 'The 1% Club', tailored to suit the pulse and culture of the Indian audience. The set design of this show is considered to be the most lavish and technologically advanced in the history of Indian television. It took about a month of hard work led by renowned set designer Varsha Jain and a team of more than 100 experts to create a giant amphitheater-style arena in a studio in Mumbai. The most unique feature of this set is that there is no traditional 'hot seat' placed in it, on which only one or two participants can play. Instead, 100 common and special citizens from across the country will sit together around a circular digital podium in the middle of the set. These include housewives, shopkeepers, delivery boys, students, corporate employees, YouTubers and people from all walks of life from rural India. Anil Kapoor will roam among these 100 contestants and ask questions and interact with them directly. 100 special customized lights have been installed on the ceiling of the set and 360-degree circular LED screens on the floor, which will change their color when the participants give right or wrong answers, adding to the excitement of the game. Rs 1 lakh in every contestant's pocket: Know the game's unique prize pot and the maze of 13 questions. The financial and gameplay format of this reality game show is very interesting. At the beginning of the game, an initial amount of Rs 1 lakh each will be given to all the 100 contestants present in the studio. There will be a total of 13 stages (13 Questions) during the game, the difficulty level of which will gradually increase in percentage terms. The first question will be one that 90% of the country can answer, and with each question the range will narrow, so much so that the 13th and final question will be solved only by the top 1% of India's intellectual capacity. The twist in this whole journey is that as soon as any contestant answers a question wrongly, he will be immediately out of the game and his initial Rs 1 lakh will be directly transferred to the show's collective 'Prize Pot'. If dozens of contestants are out by the time the 13th question is reached, the prize pot can increase to a maximum of Rs 1 crore. The contestant who makes it to the top 1% by answering all the logical questions correctly till the end will be able to win the huge prize money of Rs 1 crore. This format presents a double challenge to each contestant—they have to not only give the correct answer but also avoid losing their money. Viewers will be able to play at home: Mahamukabala will start on Star Plus and JioHotstar from September 19. The makers of the show have not limited the audience's experience to just watching the TV screen, but have transformed it into a completely interactive 'Play Along' format. While Anil Kapoor will be asking questions to 100 contestants on TV, at the same time crores of viewers across the country will be able to participate in the live game through the JioHotstar app on their smartphones. Selected lucky viewers sitting at home who give correct answers will also get a direct chance to win cash prizes and exciting gifts. From a family perspective, the show will provide a great platform for grandparents, parents and children to sit together and brainstorm on puzzles and logical questions. As per the official announcement, 'India's Top 1%' will premiere every Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM from 19th September 2026 on Star Plus television channel and will also be live streamed on JioHotstar. Anil Kapoor says that after the successful run of Bigg Boss OTT, this new platform is very refreshing for him, where he will be directly in touch with the hearts, minds and smiles of the common people of India. After the release of the new teaser, now the entire country is eagerly waiting for 19th September.
