And it’s not just commoners; even celebrities have taken to the streets, immersed themselves in the festive fervour and joined in the celebrations.

Mumbai witnessed grand Dahi Handi celebrations on Saturday as Bollywood stars and cricketers joined the festive spirit across the city.

From Govinda to Veer Pahariya and Riteish Deshmukh, several celebrities were spotted at different Dahi Handi events across the city.

Actor Govinda attended the Youth Shakti Dahi Handi celebrations in Mumbai, where his presence added to the excitement among the crowd. The actor also danced and performed to some of his popular songs, including ‘Husn Hai Suhana’ and ‘Kisi Disco Mein Jaaye’.

Speaking to the media, Govinda highlighted the importance of keeping India’s cultural heritage alive. He said Dahi Handi was not just a game but also an occasion to carry forward the country’s traditions and heritage. He also spoke about his upcoming films and appealed to audiences for their support.

Actor Randeep Hooda also joined the Dahi Handi celebrations in Mumbai. Speaking about the festival, he said Janmashtami holds great significance and Dahi Handi brings people together. He praised the enthusiasm of the Govinda teams, who train for a long time before participating in the celebrations.

Meanwhile, Riteish Deshmukh and his wife, Genelia D’Souza, attended the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Dahi Handi celebrations. Riteish also participated in the traditional matki fod event alongside a group of children, adding to the festive atmosphere.
However, netizens praised and his wife, Genelia D’Souza, as they removed their footwear before breaking the Handi, respecting the culture and tradition.

During the Janmashtami and Dahi Handi festivities in Mumbai, a viral video captured Riteish taking part in the celebrations. When he was invited to climb the stage and break a festive clay pot, or matki, alongside a group of young children, the actor was seen taking off his shoes before stepping up to touch and smash the handi.

Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav was also present at the celebrations and interacted with young fans. He praised the energy and competitive spirit surrounding Dahi Handi and suggested that the traditional matki fod activity could be recognised as a sport in the future. He also encouraged youngsters to work hard and pursue their dreams.

Actor Veer Pahariya was among the other celebrities who attended Dahi Handi celebrations in Thane and described the festival as a wonderful celebration.
