UP Skill Development: Yogi government is continuously working towards connecting the students of the state with employable skills along with quality education. In this series, preparations have been completed to provide training in vocational skills along with school education to the students of Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas run by the Social Welfare Department. Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has set a target of training more than 3 thousand students of the state in various employable sectors under ‘Project Praveen’ in the financial year 2026-27.
The target of training has been assigned to 31 training provider institutions. All selected institutions will have to complete the process of setting up training centres, getting them approved, registering students and forming batches within the stipulated time. It has been made mandatory to start training at all training centers by 30 September 2026.
Emphasis on employable skills along with education
State Minister of State for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that the objective of ‘Project Praveen’ is to connect the students studying in Sarvodaya Vidyalayas with such skills which can prepare them for future employment, self-employment and better career opportunities. Students will be given training in apparel, IT-ITES, management and other employable sectors as per their interest and available training.
Under the skill development policy of the Yogi government, this initiative will prove important in taking the youth from education to skill and from skill to employment. Providing practical and vocational training to the students at the school level itself will help in increasing their self-confidence and developing the necessary competencies for the future.
Maximum 35 students in one batch
The batch size has also been fixed to maintain the quality of training. A batch will consist of a maximum of 35 students, while the total duration of training will be up to 300 hours. This will give students an opportunity to acquire skill training without affecting their regular school education. The emphasis of the mission is not only on starting the training but also on ensuring its quality and transparency. The training provider will have to submit the contract to the Mission Headquarters and get it verified. Only after this will the District Program Management Unit (DPMU) of the concerned district be allowed to form the batch.
Training only in recognized job role
The respective job roles will be checked on NCVET and NQR portal before approving the batch to ensure the quality and authenticity of skill training. After this, students can be trained only in valid and recognized job roles. Only those batches and sectors which have been allotted to the concerned training institute will be approved on the portal. This will help in maintaining transparency in the training system and providing training to the students as per the prescribed standards.
Study material will be available within seven days of the start of the batch
To ensure that students do not lack the necessary resources during training, training providers will have to provide study material within seven days of the start of the batch. It will also be mandatory to upload the signed receipt and photographs of the material being given to the students on the mission portal. The curriculum and evaluation of training will be as per the standards prescribed by the respective Sector Skill Council (SSC). Payment for training will also be made as per the prescribed Common Cost Norms.
Mission’s emphasis on timely and quality training
Mission Director Pulkit Khare has instructed the training providers to complete all the processes as per the prescribed timelines and rules. The priority of the Mission is to ensure that training is not limited to paper only, but that students actually acquire useful and quality skills. He said that through ‘Project Praveen’, efforts are being made to make students proficient in skills along with school education. Skill training in school itself will increase the self-confidence of the students and they will become more capable for further employment and better career opportunities.
