The Indian Super League (ISL) will start from October 10 and will run till May 2027. The eight-month long league will see a return to the traditional home-and-away format. The ISL was held in a single-leg format over a limited period of time following delays due to administrative and commercial uncertainties in the previous season.
The 2026–27 season will be played in the new club-led era. During this eight-month competition, a total of 163 matches have been scheduled. Churchill Brothers’ participation in the upcoming season will be subject to the club meeting the required regulatory requirements and obtaining necessary approvals.
Churchill Brothers will be included
Churchill Brothers are to be included in place of Jamshedpur FC. The ISL will return to the traditional round-robin and home-and-away format. The team that tops the points table at the end of the league stage will be declared the Shield winner.
The same team will be the official champion of ISL and will also get a place to play in the Asian competition. The playoff format will also return, with the top six teams competing for the ISL Cup. 13 teams are going to participate in the league.
