The 37-year-old guard posted on X that he’s interested in playing overseas this season. “I want to hoop overseas for a year!!! I want that experience! And to cook them boys over that water.” Thomas, who last played in the NBA for Phoenix during the 2023/24 season, previously expressed continuing his career outside the U.S.
• Former NBA forward Jamal Mashburn chose not to become a new investor in AS Monaco Basket due to concerns about taking on lingering financial obligations, he told L’Equipe (hat tip to Sporting). Via Helen Holdings, the investment fund founded by Mashburn, he explained that the deal could not be completed because of several uncertainties that emerged during the due diligence process. “It was not possible to responsibly accept unlimited exposure to insufficiently defined historical liabilities and risks over which a new investor would have had limited or no control,” he said.
• Is the “Inside The NBA” show losing two of its biggest stars? Charles Barkley said on an episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast” that the next season of “Inside the NBA” would be the last one for both him and host Ernie Johnson unless “Ernie changes his mind.” (hat tip to The Athletic). The show moved from TNT to ESPN last season under the latest national broadcasting rights deal. Barkley, 63, intended to retire at 60 but was convinced to stay while the show was negotiating a new deal. Barkley said he decided to return to the show so that the off-camera staff could retain their jobs.
