Manoj Bajpayee has officially kickstarted working on his next big project with National Award-winning director Sudhir Mishra.

The Gangs of Wasseypur star is all set to play the Mahatma Gandhi in the upcoming film titled, Gandhi and My Mother.

The film will explore the 21-day period around the Indian Independence, highlighting Gandhi’s actions and choices as the country navigates it defining moment of the history.

While updating fans about Manoj’s character, the director shared that the actor has lost immense weight for the role and is even on a controlled diet.

He told Hindustan Times, “Manoj has lost considerable weight for the film and is currently in the ‘Gandhi zone’ on a restricted diet and a particular lifestyle.”

Reportedly, Mishra has officially kickstarted work on the film and the cast has started filming an outdoor sequence in Lucknow.

The Curse director stated, “The film’s shoot will continue till October in Lucknow. All we can share is that it’s about a 21-day chapter from Gandhi’s life.”

He further teased that the title he gave to the film at the moment is tentative as he is working on a new title.

Details regarding the supporting cast and release date is still kept under wraps.
