NSUI President Vinod Jakhar raised serious questions on the government regarding the building accident in Delhi’s Satya Niketan. He said that the students not being able to come out of the debris till now is a big failure of the system. He said that this is not a far-flung village, but Delhi, the capital of the country. Despite this, the administration neither has a proper disaster plan, nor adequate arrangements, nor the necessary equipment to evacuate the students.
Vinod Jakhar alleged that the government neither has proper management nor adequate rescue team to deal with such a disaster. He also raised questions about the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj. He said that Bansuri Swaraj remained at the spot for about five minutes and Rekha Gupta for about half an hour. Jakhar said that no accountability has been fixed on anyone in this matter.
He demanded that all such private PGs should be demolished and new government hostels should be built in their place. Also, compensation should be given to the families who have lost their children. The best treatment should be provided to the students rescued in the accident and strictest action should be taken against those responsible for the accident.
