India's junior women's hockey team registered its second consecutive win in the AHF Junior Asia Cup 2026. The team defeated Malaysia 11-1 in its second elite pool match. Reigning champion India played brilliantly throughout the match and completely dominated the opposition team.
After winning 4-1 in their first match against South Korea, India gave an even better performance against Malaysia. His attack was tremendous from the beginning of the match. Seven players registered their names in the scoresheet. The defending champions were excellent with field goals as well as set-pieces.
India started the match in a very good manner. It took just a minute for the team to take the lead when Pooja Sahu scored on a penalty stroke to make the score 1-0. After this, Purnima Yadav scored the second goal in the fourth minute, while in the eighth minute, Binima Dhan converted the penalty corner to increase India's lead to 3-0.
The attack of the Indian team did not stop here. In the 14th minute, Krishna Sharma strengthened the lead by scoring another goal. India's dominance continued in the second quarter as well. Purnima Yadav scored her second goal from a penalty corner in the 17th minute, while Sukhveer Kaur and Geeta Yadav scored in the 21st and 28th minutes respectively to give India a huge 7–0 lead.
The Malaysian team could not respond to the continuous attacks by the Indian players. The Indian team played brilliantly in the entire first half and completely dominated the match by 7-0 till half-time. Finally, in the 38th minute, Noor Mohammed scored a goal for Malaysia, but it did not have much impact on the picture of the match. India soon regained control when Pooja converted another penalty stroke to score her second goal in the 42nd minute.
One minute later, Sanika Chandrakant Mane scored and India's score became 9-1. Despite the victory being almost certain, the Indian team continued to attack continuously. In the 53rd minute, Geeta scored her second goal from a penalty corner and then two minutes before the end of the match, Sanika also scored her second goal, ensuring India's 11–1 victory.
India's 11 goals were the result of a balanced attacking game; Of these, four came from field play, five from penalty corners and two from penalty strokes. With this result, India has reached the top of the elite pool with six points from two matches. China and Japan have three points each, while South Korea and Malaysia are yet to win.
