Long-running speculations about the Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift have been strengthened by the prototype spotted during testing. Based on current reports, its updated model is expected to hit the market in 2027.
Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift: Popular MPV coming in new avatar, seen testing; Know what will be the changes
What changes were seen in testing?
In the pictures of the test mule, the most changes are seen in its front part. According to reports, the new Innova Hycross may get a more upright and SUV-like front design. The shape of the grill appears more square than before. With this, slimmer headlamps and new projector elements are likely to be provided. There has also been a change in the design of the front bumper.
Some spy pictures also give a glimpse of the new LED taillamp element at the rear. However, major changes in the side profile and alloy wheel design are not clearly visible at the moment.
New features can be found in the interior
The cabin is also expected to be updated in the facelift. Previous reports had suggested the possibility of a larger infotainment display, better connected-car features and changes to the digital instrument cluster. There has also been talk of a larger touchscreen of around 12 inches, although this has not been officially confirmed yet.
Features like improved 360-degree camera, powered front passenger seat, better cabin materials and sound insulation are also likely to be available. In a new testing report released in September 2026, the layout of the dashboard and center console appeared to be very similar to the current model, while the infotainment screen was hidden in the pictures.
Less hope for major changes in the engine
According to current information, there is little possibility of major changes to the mechanical setup in Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift. The existing 2.0-litre petrol engine in the petrol model and 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain in the hybrid model may continue. According to reports, the petrol engine gives a combined output of around 173bhp and the hybrid system gives a combined output of around 184bhp.
The current Innova Hycross is available with both petrol and hybrid options on the official website of Toyota. The company has not yet confirmed the changes in the engine or transmission of the facelift.
When will the new Innova Hycross be launched?
The launch date has not been decided yet. Many automobile reports are suggesting the possibility of it being launched in early 2027. The Innova Hycross will arrive in India in December 2022 and this timeline also matches Toyota’s usual product-cycle strategy of bringing in the facelift after about four years.
For now, customers will have to wait for the official announcement of price, variants, booking and launch date. Until confirmed by Toyota, the new features and pricing should be treated as a tentative change only.
