Effect of inflation: Huge increase in prices of eggs, chicken and milk

Effect of inflation on kitchen

The effect of inflation can now be clearly seen in the kitchens of common people. Along with essential food items, prices of everyday products like eggs, chicken and milk have also increased. The increase in prices of poultry and dairy products by about 30 to 40 percent in the last one year has affected the household budget of families.

Egg prices rise

The prices of eggs, which are considered a cheap and easily available source of protein, have increased significantly in the last one year. It has been reported that the prices of eggs have increased by 35 to 38.7 percent in various markets.

Its effect is also being seen in the wholesale market. According to NECC market price, the price of 100 eggs has increased from Rs 670 to Rs 730 at many places. This has had a direct impact on the retail market.

The price of egg, which used to be available for around Rs 6 on normal days, has now increased to Rs 8.50 to Rs 9 per piece in many places. In some local markets, customers have to spend Rs 10 to 12 for this.

Increase in chicken prices

The increase in the prices of eggs as well as chicken has increased the concern of the people. In the last one year, chicken prices have increased by 30 to 40 percent in many markets.

In many retail markets, the price of chicken which was being sold at around Rs 220 per kg, has now increased to Rs 330 per kg. Due to this, the weekly and monthly budget of families eating non-veg is being affected.

Increase in milk prices

Inflation has also affected dairy products. The rise in milk prices has further hit the already stressed household budget.

The country's major dairy companies, such as Amul and Mother Dairy, have increased milk prices by about Rs 2 to 4 per liter citing rising costs. After this, the price of premium milk has reached Rs 68 to Rs 70 per liter in some areas.

Increasing burden on common man's kitchen

Egg, chicken and milk are three food items that are consumed by a large number of families on a daily basis. The increase in their prices has a direct impact on domestic expenditure.

On one hand, families are already trying to manage their budget due to the prices of vegetables and other food items, on the other hand, now the expenditure may increase further due to the cost of essential items related to protein and dairy.

Due to increase in prices

Increase in production cost, feed, transportation and other input expenses are considered to be the main reasons behind the increase in prices of poultry and dairy products. When the cost of production and supply increases, its effect is visible from the wholesale market to the retail prices as well.

The biggest concern at the moment is that if the prices of eggs, chicken and milk continue to rise, the pressure on the monthly kitchen budget of common families may increase further in the coming times.
