The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning over several states from North India to East and Northeast India today, September 8. According to the Meteorological Department, several states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience rain and thunderstorm today.
A western disturbance in the form of a cyclonic circulation is active over Kashmir and surrounding areas. Due to its influence, continuous rain and strong winds are likely to occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Due to the risk of landslides in hilly areas, people have been advised to avoid non-essential travel.
Bihar has been warned of heavy rain with thunder and lightning today. This situation is likely to continue in isolated areas for the next few days. Heavy rain is likely to occur in Jharkhand on September 12-13 and heavy rain in West Bengal’s Ganga plains on September 11-13. Odisha is likely to experience heavy rain on September 8-9 and again on September 10-12.
