Delhi Satya Niketan PG Building Collapse case: The case of Delhi Satya Niketan PG Building collapse has reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the accident in Satya Niketan. The amicus curiae and senior lawyer appointed by the Supreme Court filed a status report on this matter in the court and gave information about the accident. After this, the country's top court agreed to hear the case. The case can be heard from 2 pm today. Amicus Curiae will demand early hearing from the Supreme Court.
Let us tell you that on September 6, at around 1:30 pm, seven people died when a PG building collapsed in Satya Niketan, Delhi. All those who died are students. While many people are injured in the accident. There is a possibility of collapse of many buildings nearby due to the accident. In such a situation, the building has been evacuated.
The court-appointed amicus curiae in the case has filed a report and recommended immediate security audit and inspection of all PG hostels in the capital. Citing the building collapse in Satya Niketan in April 2022, Ajit Kumar Sinha recommended security check and audit-inspection of all PG hostels and private hostels in the capital. The report states the need for time-bound security audit and inspection of all PG and private hostels running around colleges and universities in Delhi. According to the report, on September 6, at around 1:30 pm, the building in P-14 of Satya Niketan had collapsed. This building had four floors apart from the basement. It was being used as a Boys PG for students under the name 'Hostel Daze'.
Repeated incidents happening in Satya Niketan
The report said that such incidents happening repeatedly in Satya Niketan are a matter of concern. In April 2022 also, 2 people were killed and 4 were injured when a building collapsed here. Now this serious question is being raised due to such incident happening again. Satya Nitekan is located near Delhi University South Campus, it has become a major center for student accommodation. A large number of PGs, private hostels, mess, food shops and other commercial establishments are running here. The report said that all PGs, private hostels and such places of stay for students located around colleges and universities in Delhi should be security checked within the time limit.
