UK Commonwealth Masters Scholarship 2027: ₹2.5 Lakh Stipend

The application process for UK Commonwealth Masters Scholarship 2027-28 has started from 8th September 2026. Selected students will receive a stipend of 2,000 pounds per month while studying in London and 1,712 pounds per month in other cities of Britain.

New Delhi: There is good news for students who dream of studying abroad. The online application process for UK Commonwealth Masters Scholarship 2027-28 has started from 8th September 2026. Eligible candidates can apply till 20 October 2026. Selected students will be given a stipend of 2,000 pounds i.e. around Rs 2.5 lakh per month during their studies in London and 1,712 pounds i.e. around Rs 2 lakh per month in other cities of Britain.

Under UK Commonwealth Masters Scholarship 2027, selected candidates will be given financial assistance during their studies. Students studying in London will get a stipend of 2,000 pounds per month, which is approximately Rs 2.5 lakh in Indian currency. Whereas for students studying in other cities of Britain, this amount will be 1,712 pounds i.e. about Rs 2 lakh per month.

This scholarship is for students who wish to pursue a full-time Masters degree in the UK but are not able to fund their studies on their own due to financial circumstances.

The online application process for this scholarship has started from 8th September 2026. Candidates have time till 20 October 2026 to apply. Nominating institutions will have to submit their nominations to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in December 2026.

The results of the scholarship are expected to be released by July 2027. Selected candidates will start their studies from September or October 2027. Applications will be accepted only through online mode and candidates must submit the form within the prescribed deadline.

Who can apply?

For this scholarship, the candidate must be a citizen of India and reside in India permanently. Candidates must be able to begin their studies in the UK by September 2027.

As per the educational qualification, the candidate should have at least 'Upper Second-Class (2:1) Honors Degree' by September 2027. Apart from this, candidates having 'Lower Second-Class Degree' along with relevant post-graduate qualification i.e. Masters degree can also be eligible.

The candidate will also have to prove that he is not in a position to bear the expenses of studying in Britain. Qualified and potential candidates will be given priority in the selection process.

What is Commonwealth Masters Scholarship?

The Commonwealth Masters Scholarship is a UK government scholarship scheme, administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC). It works under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and aims to promote development goals.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), this scholarship offers talented candidates from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries the opportunity to study full-time Masters at UK universities.

The objective of this scheme is to provide the candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development, so that after completing their studies, they can return to their country and contribute to leadership and innovation. The scholarship is provided under six development themes of CSC.
