The controversy regarding Sanjay Gandhi Hospital of Rewa is continuously increasing. During the Congress demonstration, MLA Abhay Mishra raised serious questions on the hospital arrangements and made a very shocking allegation. He claimed that if the body of a beautiful woman is brought to the hospital for post-mortem, she is raped.
The MLA also accused him of taking money from the relatives of the deceased in the name of post-mortem. However, these allegations have not been independently confirmed and no official evidence of any such incident emerged during the post-mortem at the hospital.

Post mortem of many dead bodies is done daily in Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. These include bodies of both men and women. It is said that normally every day 3 to 7 and sometimes 10 bodies arrive for post-mortem. In such a situation, the allegations of the MLA have started a new debate regarding the arrangements and monitoring of the hospital.
When did the controversy start?
Congress is protesting over the death of 25-year-old Kalpana Mishra and her newborn child. Kalpana was admitted to the hospital for delivery. Both mother and child died after C-section. The family alleged negligence in treatment. Two doctors and two nursing staff were suspended in the case, while later the hospital superintendent was also removed from the post.
How was a living patient declared dead?
Another case related to the hospital came to light on 5 September. 66-year-old Girija Prasad Gupta was declared dead by the doctors. When the family was taking him, he felt breathing. Later the patient was brought back to the hospital and admitted to the ICU. The hospital has said that the matter will be investigated.
Why was the snake bite injection given?
On September 6-7, 18-year-old Ayush Singh alleged that when he reached the hospital after being bitten by a dog, a history of snake bite was recorded in his slip and he was given an injection related to the same. Later he was given anti-rabies injection. The hospital said that action will be taken after investigation.
Why did other cases in the hospital increase concern?
Apart from this, the family of Archana Gupta of Satna alleged negligence in treatment. At the same time, after the incident of a young man falling from the upper floor of the hospital on August 31, questions were also raised on the security arrangements.
Why did Digvijay Singh ask for resignation?
Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh also participated in the Congress demonstration. He demanded the resignation of Health Minister Rajendra Shukla regarding the cases reported in the hospital. On the other hand, Kalpana Mishra's father is also sitting on a separate dharna demanding FIR. Congress says that its protest will continue until concrete action is taken.
