Kashmiri Pandit employees working in Jammu and Kashmir have once again received threats. The United Liberation Council (ULC), which is reportedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, has threatened Kashmiri Pandit employees to quit their jobs, warning them of life-threatening consequences if they do not do so. Due to this threat, around 7,000 Kashmiri Pandit employees have come under the radar of security agencies.
The shocking thing is that the personal information of these employees like mobile number, home address and vehicle registration number has allegedly been leaked online. This has created an atmosphere of fear in the Kashmiri Pandit community and serious questions are being raised on the security arrangements. According to the information, Kashmiri Pandit employees have received threats at least five times in the last one month. In a letter issued by ULC on September 1, Kashmiri Pandit employees were asked to leave their jobs. According to some reports, these threatening letters were first published on the dark web and then circulated through WhatsApp and Telegram.
Some people of Kashmiri Pandit community have described this incident as a serious matter of data security. He has demanded a high-level investigation into how the personal information of the employees reached the terrorist organizations. In this case, a complaint has been lodged against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Cyber Crime Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police and an FIR has been registered and a demand has been made for investigation.
Under the Prime Minister's Package launched by the Central Government for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, thousands of Kashmiri Pandits have been given government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir. More government posts were approved in 2015 after the rehabilitation scheme was launched in 2008. Currently, more than 6,000 employees are said to be working in the valley. However, since many of them live in rented houses, their security has become more serious.
Concern has also been raised about the security of the transit colonies built for Kashmiri Pandit workers. It is alleged that some of the houses are located in remote and unsafe areas, and it is also alleged that there are no proper roads, fencing and security arrangements. Therefore, there is a growing demand for immediate security checking of transit colonies and rented houses, so that the mastermind behind the threats can be detected and the workers can be provided complete security.
