The new name of the ruling coalition led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay in Tamil Nadu has been decided. The second meeting of the alliance coordination committee was held at the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) headquarters in Pannaiyur, Chennai on Wednesday. The name of the alliance was finalized in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister and TVK founder Vijay. The TVK-Congress alliance was named Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance. The functioning of the alliance and further political strategy were also discussed in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by leaders of Viduthalai Chiruthigal Katchi (VCK), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) along with the Congress. In the pictures of the meeting, Vijay was seen wearing a golden colored kurta and vesti. The logos of the parties involved in the alliance were visible on the screen behind them.

The meeting formalized the structure of the alliance
There was discussion in the meeting to formalize the structure of the alliance. The leaders also considered formulating a common minimum program with a new name for the alliance and forming a steering committee. Its objective is to establish better coordination among the alliance partners and to create a consensus system for future political and policy decisions.
The absence of left parties in the meeting was also notable. The Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M) did not participate in the meeting held in Panayyur. Both parties have already indicated that they will continue to support the TVK government on an issue basis but will not join a formal alliance.

Differences surfaced before 2029
The new name of the alliance has been decided at a time when reports of political differences within it regarding the 2029 Lok Sabha elections have come to light. There was also a debate between TVK and Congress regarding the Prime Ministerial candidate. TVK's PWD minister Aadhav Arjun had earlier said that the country's highest constitutional post should be held by a leader from Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, Tourism Minister S. Rajesh Kumar had said that if TVK does not support Rahul Gandhi's candidature for the post of Prime Minister then Congress ministers can resign.
