Why should BCCI not come under the purview of 'National Sports Governance Act' – Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has sent a notice to BCCI and all the state cricket associations of the country asking why they should not be brought under the 'National Sports Governance Act, 2025'? The bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant has today asked the board's lawyers to take instructions on this. If BCCI comes under the ambit of this new law of the Government of India, then the board will directly come under RTI (Right to Information) and government surveillance in sports administration will increase.
The purpose behind this strictness of the court is to stop irregularities in sports organizations and bring transparency. If BCCI comes under the ambit of this new law, it will be difficult for it to act arbitrarily. Strict action by election officer on Baroda and Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Board
Before the big meeting of BCCI, Baroda and Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Board have been shown the door. Board's election officer AK Joti has taken this tough decision due to rules and paperwork deficiencies. Due to rejection of nominations of Pranab Amin of Baroda and Desh Ratan Dubey of Jammu and Kashmir, this time the representatives of both the states will neither be able to participate in this Annual Meeting (AGM) of BCCI nor will they be able to vote.
