BJP to launch month-long campaign on Modi’s birthday – Read

NEW DELHI, Sept 10:

The BJP will launch a month-long nationwide campaign from September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and commemorate 25 years of his uninterrupted tenure as the head of a government.

BJP president Nitin Nabin announced the programme, titled the “Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan”, with youth outreach forming a major component of the campaign. The programme will begin on September 17 and include a series of public-service and outreach activities.

The BJP plans to use the campaign to highlight what it describes as the achievements of Modi’s 25 years in public life. Party leaders are expected to showcase government initiatives in areas including youth development, sports, entrepreneurship and social welfare.

Nabin placed particular emphasis on youth participation and said the younger generation was supporting Modi. He also referred to initiatives such as Khelo India, Fit India and Start-Up India while attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s youth-oriented political outreach.

The BJP’s campaign is also intended to mark the completion of 25 years since Modi became head of a government. Modi first became Gujarat Chief Minister in October 2001 and subsequently served as Prime Minister from 2014.

The month-long programme is expected to include service-oriented activities and public outreach programmes across the country. The BJP has sought to use the occasion to underline its message of governance, development and public service.

The announcement comes ahead of Modi’s birthday on September 17 and is expected to be accompanied by a series of organisational and public programmes by BJP units across the country.
