Fuel prices remain stable in most of the metros and major districts in the state. However, due to the difference in local body tax (VAT/Local Cess) and freight charges (Transportation Cost) levied at the district level, there is slight variation in the prices in different cities. Today in the capital Lucknow, the price of petrol remains at around ₹ 101.86 per liter and the price of diesel remains at ₹ 95.36 per liter. In the NCR region adjacent to Delhi i.e. Noida (Gautam Buddha Nagar), petrol is being sold at around ₹ 101.90 per liter and diesel at ₹ 95.37 per liter. Apart from this, due to high transportation charges in Lakhimpur Kheri, Sonbhadra and Pratapgarh, prices are above the state average. Cheapest fuel: Petrol and diesel prices are lowest in areas near refineries in Uttar Pradesh like Mathura and Jhansi. Diesel is available at around ₹94.90 per liter in Mathura and around ₹95.03 per liter in Jhansi. Whereas petrol prices in Firozabad and Agra are trading at the lowest levels in the state (about ₹101.39 to ₹101.72).
