Maruti launched the updated Baleno facelift premium hatchback in the market last week. The premium hatchback was launched at a starting price of Rs 6.10 lakh, ex-showroom. Maruti has now revealed the official prices for all the variants of the Baleno, and it looks like Maruti has also brought down the starting price of the hatchback. The hatchback now starts at Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes all the way up to Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Maruti Baleno is available in Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha and Alpha (O) variants. Except for the base Sigma variant, all variants are available with manual and AMT gearbox options. The price for the Sigma variant is Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom, the Delta is priced at Rs 7 lakh, ex-showroom, the Zeta at Rs 8 lakh, ex-showroom, and the Alpha and Alpha (O) variants at Rs 9.10 lakh and Rs 9.50 lakh, ex-showroom, respectively. The AMT variant costs Rs 50,000 more than the manual variant.
Maruti is also offering CNG manual variants of the Baleno facelift in the market. CNG is offered with the Delta and Zeta variants only. The Delta CNG is priced at Rs 7.92 lakh, ex-showroom, while the Zeta is priced at Rs 8.92 lakh, ex-showroom.
Maruti Suzuki launched the Baleno in the market last week with multiple changes and updates. The exterior of the hatchback has been revised, especially the front end. The front grille has been completely revised, and it now gets a wide and large grille with three horizontal chrome slats running across it.
The headlamp design stays the same, with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, halogen turn indicators, LED fog lamps, and so on. The bumper is completely new, while the rest of the car stays the same in terms of design.
On the inside, the hatchback gets a cabin similar to the outgoing model, but Maruti has added more features than before. We get seat ventilation, partial leatherette upholstery, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless phone charger, HUD, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS, including features like Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beam Assist. The hatchback also gets a dedicated button to turn the ADAS features on and off.
The other major update in the Baleno is the engine. The K12C-series, 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that was loved by many has been replaced with a 1.2-litre Z12E, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine first appeared in the Swift, then in the Dzire, and now in the Baleno. The engine is tuned for city use and fuel efficiency, and the ARAI figures prove the same.
The engine generates 83 PS and 112 Nm of torque and is available with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. Maruti has currently launched the manual CNG variant of the Baleno. The company will be launching the AMT-CNG combination with the Baleno next year, which would offer customers a balance of convenience and efficiency that many people in metro cities like Delhi prefer.
