Vietnam gold prices fell Friday morning following a dip of the precious metal on global markets on Thursday.
Saigon Jewelry Company gold bar declined 1.50% to VND144.4 million (U$5,571.85) per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.
Gold ring dipped 1.08% to VND146.40 million per tael. Gold prices in Vietnam have fallen 5.5% so far this year.
Globally gold added 0.28% to 4,327.60 per ounce, following a 1.93%-plunge Thursday after robust U.S. inflation data and rising oil prices increased bets for a Federal Reserve rate hike next week.
The World Gold Council reported Wednesday that investment demand for gold-backed exchange-traded funds recorded its second-largest capital inflow on record.
According to its monthly ETF data, the WGC said $18 billion flowed into global gold ETFs in August, led by funds listed in North America and Europe.
