New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed all the leaders participating in the BRICS Business Forum. PM Modi said that when the BRICS group was started in 2006, only four countries were included in it. Today, including BRICS and BRICS associate countries, there is a family of 21 countries.

Addressing the leaders' session of the BRICS Business Forum in Delhi, PM Modi said that today BRICS countries represent 50 per cent of the world's population, 40 per cent of global GDP and more than 25 per cent of global trade. The Prime Minister said, 'While the global GDP has increased by approximately two and a half times in these years, the combined GDP of the BRICS countries has increased by approximately four and a half times. In other words, the economic power of BRICS has grown at almost twice the rate of the rest of the world.

Modi said the BRICS countries are also emerging as major centers of global innovation and solutions. From grassroots initiatives to cutting-edge technologies, new possibilities for innovation are taking shape across member countries. He said that the growing size, momentum and optimism of BRICS is clearly visible among us. “This forum is the largest BRICS business forum ever held in India.”
