Delhi CM Welcomes BRICS Leaders, Calling Summit a ‘Moment of Honour and Pride’

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday extended a warm welcome to global leaders arriving in Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit 2026, calling it a “moment of honour and pride” for the capital.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and several other leaders will participate in the two‑day summit hosted by India on September 12–13.

CM Gupta highlighted Delhi’s rich history and diverse cultures, noting that the city embodies the Indian spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family. She said under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Bharat has brought greater confidence, balance, and purpose to global engagement.

The summit will focus on strengthening food security, energy, health systems, disaster reduction, and critical supply chains, positioning BRICS as a stabilising force in a fragmented geopolitical landscape.
