21 Rescued After 2 Merchant Vessels Collide Off Gujarat Coast

Ahmedabad: Two merchant vessels, MV KMAX EMPEROR and MV TRUE MARINER, collided off the outer anchorage OTB Kandla in Gujarat’s Kutch district on Friday, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) said.

The ICG launched a rescue operation following the collision, and safely evacuated 21 of the 24 crew members from MV KMAX EMPEROR.

Three crew members remained on board the vessel to support its operations.

The Coast Guard activated comprehensive pollution response measures following the collision.

It is closely coordinating with the Directorate General of Shipping, central agencies and the state administration as part of the response.

The Coast Guard said it remains fully alert and committed to ensuring maritime safety and preserving Gujarat’s coastal ecosystem.
