After becoming the President of Iran, Masood Pejeshkian visited India for the first time. He will participate in the BRICS conference. PM Modi and Pejeshkian held detailed talks on bilateral relations in New Delhi on Friday, a day before the summit. Pejeshkian's visit is considered very important amid the ongoing war with America and Israel, because America is not only increasing sanctions against Tehran but is also trying to isolate it. PM Modi thanked President Pejeshkian for attending the Leaders' Session of the BRICS Business Forum.
The Ministry of External Affairs said, 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pejeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi. This was the second meeting between the two leaders in less than two weeks.

The ministry further said, 'The two leaders discussed many aspects of mutual relations. The Prime Minister thanked Iran for its regular and high-level participation in BRICS meetings despite difficult circumstances. He noted the potential of BRICS to promote the spirit of flexibility, innovation, cooperation and stability among the countries of the 'Global South'.
The ministry informed, 'The two leaders exchanged views on recent events in West Asia. The Prime Minister reiterated India's consistent stand that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. They also stressed the need for continued efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region, protect freedom of navigation and trade, and protect the safety and well-being of seafarers.'

In the bilateral meeting held in New Delhi, both the leaders reviewed the current situation in West Asia. Talked on expansion of bilateral relations. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on social media, 'India and Iran have civilizational ties, which are linked to strong cultural and people-to-people ties. As BRICS partners, both the countries are working together towards progress and prosperity.
This is the second meeting of PM Modi and Pejeshkian within 15 days. On August 31, Prime Minister Modi met Masoud Pejeshkian in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. In his last meeting with PM Modi, Pejeshkian had urged that India use its extensive contacts with various parties to inspire them to leave the path of war and bloodshed and return to the path of dialogue and compromise.
