'Had Yadav been a Muslim, there would have been an encounter…' Who is Kajal Nishad, who clashed with the police over the Gonda massacre?

Gonda Murder: After the murder of Gonda businessman Vinod Sahni, questions are not only being raised on law and order in UP politics, but a new debate has also started regarding Nishad vote. The reason is Kajal Nishad of Samajwadi Party, who clashed with the police.

In fact, after the murder of Vinod Sahni, when Kajal Nishad came to meet his family, she had a heated argument with the police officer. Kajal Nishad alleged that if the accused had been a Yadav or a Muslim, then encounter and bulldozer action would have been taken by now. However, the police officer replied that in every case, similar action is taken as per law.

Let us tell you that Kajal Nishad's political journey has been associated with the politics of Gorakhpur and Purvanchal. She has contested elections on SP ticket and has registered her political presence among the Nishad community. But the real challenge for BJP here is the equation of Nishad votes more than that of Kajal Nishad.

At the same time, the resentment of Nishad community in Uttar Pradesh is not giving good signs for BJP. After the death of Vinod Sahni, Nishad Party President and Minister in Yogi Government, Sanjay Nishad himself sat on strike. Questions were raised on the police action and after this SP also attacked the government on this issue.

But the question is why is Nishad community so important for BJP? In fact, from Gorakhpur, Basti, Sant Kabirnagar to Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Prayagraj in Eastern UP, Nishad, Kevat, Mallah and Bind communities influence the electoral equation on many seats. In 2022, 6 MLAs of Nishad Party also reached the Assembly. Now, if resentment increases on issues like reservation, security and Gonda incident before 2027, the opposition will try to take political advantage of it. The special thing is that Nishad Party is an ally of BJP. In such a situation, the question is not only about votes but also about the equation of alliance.

However, it is too early to say that just one incident will break BJP's vote bank. But if such issues come up continuously before 2027 and the opposition succeeds in making them a big issue among the Nishad community, then it will not be easy for BJP to handle the equation in Purvanchal.
