A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court demanding the removal of the song 'Shoorveer' shown in the climax of the film. The petition alleges that the song 'Shoorveer' has been used in the film to praise and glorify gangsters. The petitioner says that the basic meaning of this song is different from this and it is dedicated to the bravery of the brave Shiromani Maharana Pratap of the land of Rajasthan. The petition states that the context in which the song has been used in the climax of the film misrepresents its original intent and sentiments.
The petition filed by a person named Prashant Kumar Singh has alleged that this song has been used inappropriately in the film to glorify fictional gangsters. The petition argues that the track 'Shoorveer' was originally written to pay tribute to the bravery and greatness of Maharana Pratap, the great king of Rajasthan. In such a situation, using this song in the context of gangsters in the film is contrary to its basic spirit and purpose.

Demand for instructions to remove or change the song
The PIL seeks a direction from the Delhi High Court to remove or change the track 'Shoorveer' from the climax of the film. Along with this, the petition has also demanded to prepare appropriate guidelines regarding the cinematic use of songs related to historically or culturally important personalities. According to the petitioner, such guidelines are necessary to ensure that songs having historical and cultural significance are not used in films in a manner that creates undesirable or misleading associations with criminal, anti-social or otherwise deviant conduct.
Rajasthan BJP leader Rajendra Rathod also raised the issue
A day before the PIL filed in Delhi High Court, senior BJP leader in Rajasthan Rajendra Rathod had also objected to the use of the song 'Shoorveer'. He raised questions over the song dedicated to Maharana Pratap being shown in the film along with scenes involving gangsters and criminal characters and demanded its removal from the film. Rathore has written a letter to the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding his demand. He also shared this letter on social media.

Rathore said in his letter that the song 'Shoorveer', dedicated to the brave warrior Maharana Pratap, has been presented in the film 'Mirzapur: The Movie' by associating it with gangster and criminal characters. Calling it inappropriate, he demanded removal of the song from the film. The BJP leader also demanded that misuse of songs, symbols and references related to historical great men should not be allowed in future. He says that while using cultural references related to historical personalities, their respect and original spirit should be kept in mind. In this way, PIL has now been filed in Delhi High Court and objection of BJP leader in Rajasthan regarding the use of the song 'Shoorveer'.
Showing gangsters, drug addicts and rapists in the song 'Shoorveer' is insulting.
Former Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly and BJP leader Rajendra Rathore, in a letter to the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), has expressed strong objection to the use of the song 'Shoorveer' in 'Mirzapur: The Movie'. He said that showing this song of Rajasthani singer Rappariya Balam in the film along with criminal characters like gangsters, drug addicts and rapists is extremely objectionable and hurts public sentiments. Rathod claimed that using the song in this way insults the honor of Maharana Pratap and the historical and cultural heritage associated with him. According to him, it is not appropriate to present the song which is dedicated to the bravery and greatness of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap by associating it with characters with criminal background.
'Clear difference in the character and values of a knight and a gangster'
Rathod said in his letter that there is a clear difference between the character and values of a knight and a gangster. According to him, it is unfortunate to associate values like bravery, sacrifice, religion, self-respect and dedication to the nation with crime, violence and gang culture. BJP leader has demanded from CBFC to remove the song 'Shoorveer' from 'Mirzapur: The Movie'. Along with this, he has sought to ensure that in future, songs, symbols and references related to historical great men are not allowed to be used in a manner which hurts the sentiments of the society.
