Modi Xi Jinping Meeting: Bilateral meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going on in New Delhi. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said that he expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation received from China during India’s BRICS chairmanship. He said that now is an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Jinping’s first visit to India after Galwan
Xi Jinping has reached India after almost seven years. This is his first visit to India after the 2020 clash in Galwan Valley. Earlier in the statement issued by China, it was said that it is ready to take forward the dialogue with India and increase cooperation by resolving mutual differences.

After the Galvan incident, there was tension in the relations between the two countries at the political level, but business activities were not affected. According to data, India’s imports from China were around $65 billion in the year 2020-21, which increased to more than $132 billion in 2025-26. That means imports almost doubled during this period.

Xi Jinping had earlier visited India in October 2019. During that time, Prime Minister Modi welcomed him in the historic coastal town of Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu. The two leaders visited ancient sites like Panch Rath and Shore Temple and discussed strengthening ties through informal talks.
Emphasis on increasing border peace and trust
In the 2019 meeting, it was agreed to develop high-level mechanisms to reduce trade imbalance between the two countries, increase mutual trust and maintain peace in the border areas. Now the meeting being held in New Delhi is being considered important for the next phase of India-China relations.
