New Delhi: The historic 'New Delhi Declaration 2026' was approved with the consent of all member countries on 12 September 2026 on the occasion of the concluding session of the 18th BRICS Summit hosted by India. No objection being lodged by any country on this declaration is being considered as a huge and decisive victory for India on the field of international diplomacy. Through this document, the BRICS countries have given a clear message that resolution of all the big and complex disputes of the world is possible only through dialogue and diplomatic routes. Along with this, while repeatedly expressing deep concern over the threats of US tariffs, the resolve to work together for global trade, uninterrupted supply chains and security of energy supply was reiterated.

Strong condemnation of Pahalgam terrorist attack
In the 40th point of the manifesto, India's stand was strongly emphasized and 'zero tolerance' towards terrorism was reiterated. In this, it strongly condemned the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, in which 26 innocent people were killed and many were injured.
BRICS made it clear that terrorism, in whatever form, purpose or perpetrator, is completely criminal and unjustified under any circumstances.
India's big diplomatic victory
Addressing the conference, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for fundamental changes in the global order. He said that at present the countries of the Global South are the first to face global crises, but when it comes to taking decisions at the international level, they are pushed to the back. PM Modi stressed that this 'pyramid of privilege' has to be ended and a platform of equal partnership has to be created. Under this thinking, he suggested preparing a 10-point proposal for global governance reforms, which could be transformed into a concrete BRICS reform roadmap by the next conference.
Strong message to the world in the presence of global giants
Prime Minister Modi also clarified that the BRICS group is not against any country or organization, rather it is a supporter of a rules-based and inclusive world order. During this historic conference, many prominent global leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan were present on the stage. This manifesto passed in the presence of these stalwarts will prove to be very important in deciding the direction of future global politics.
