Kanpur city. As the rainy season is nearing its end, the administration has taken a strict stance regarding the bad condition of the city's roads. Divisional Commissioner K. Vijayendra Pandian on Saturday conducted on-site inspection of the ongoing road construction and patch repair works under the CM Grid Scheme. He instructed the Municipal Corporation officials to run a campaign to make all the roads of the city pothole free in the next 15 days. Instructions were given to complete all the works of CM Grid by 31st October under any circumstances. The Divisional Commissioner warned that action will be taken against the executing agencies that do not complete the work within the stipulated time and if necessary, they will be blacklisted.
Inspection of 2.4 kilometer road in Jajmau
Divisional Commissioner first inspected the road being built under CM Grid from JK I to Pacific Lawn and VIP Road to Lal Bangla intersection in Jajmau area of Zone-2. Officials said that about 2.4 kilometers of road is being constructed here. White topping technology is being used in road construction. According to officials, this technology is useful for waterlogged areas and increases the strength and durability of the road. The Divisional Commissioner gave instructions to speed up the construction work and complete it within the stipulated time.
Instructions to remove encroachment and start footpath work
During the inspection, officials said that the footpath work is affected due to encroachment on about 60 meter stretch on the road. On this, the Divisional Commissioner gave instructions to launch a campaign to remove encroachments and start construction of footpaths.
He clearly said that the road work should be completed by October 31 under any circumstances. If the deadline is not followed, action should be taken to blacklist the concerned executing agency.
Patchwork speeded up, pothole free roads in 15 days
After this, the Divisional Commissioner took stock of the ongoing patch repair work between VIP Road and Lal Bungalow. Work was found going on at the spot. He said that the rainy season is about to end, hence there should not be any delay in road repair. Instructions were given to the Chief Engineer to make the city roads pothole free within 15 days by carrying out patch work as a campaign.
