Bhopal-Delhi Air India flight diverted to Jaipur due to technical glitch, all passengers safe

New Delhi, September 13 (IANS). Air India flight AI 1886 from Bhopal to Delhi was diverted towards Jaipur as a precautionary measure due to technical reasons on Sunday.

However, the aircraft made a safe landing in Jaipur and is being investigated, as per Air India's safety standards.

According to Air India, when a technical problem was detected during the flight, the pilots diverted the aircraft to the nearest suitable airport, Jaipur, as per standard safety protocols. The airline said the plane has landed safely and is now undergoing a detailed technical inspection.

“On September 13, flight AI1886 operated from Bhopal to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur due to a technical issue in accordance with prescribed procedures. The aircraft landed safely and is being inspected,” the company said in a statement.

Air India has started alternative arrangements to transport the affected passengers to Delhi as soon as possible. The company's ground team is providing necessary assistance and support to the passengers in Jaipur. The airline has also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by this unexpected situation.

This incident has come to light at a time when there is increased surveillance and scrutiny regarding flight safety in the Indian aviation sector. In recent months, incidents like diversion and air turnback due to technical reasons have been reported in some flights of various airlines.

It is noteworthy that on Saturday, Air India had also informed that one of its pilots died of a heart attack during a layover in Delhi. The pilot, who hails from Mumbai, was found unconscious in a hotel in Delhi on Friday evening, after which he was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. He was scheduled to operate a flight on Saturday morning.

Earlier in August, an Air India Express flight from Kochi to Abu Dhabi was also turned back under safety norms after indications of a technical problem with the aircraft were reported.

At present, Air India has clarified that all the passengers of the Bhopal-Delhi flight are safe and efforts are on to reach their destination as soon as possible.
