India clinched its eighth Women’s Asia Cup title after beating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the 2026 final at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
This is India’s fourth Asia Cup title since 2012 when the format changed to T20. India had lost to Sri Lanka in the 2024 final, which saw the Lankans lift their maiden crown.
This time around, it was barely a contest after the Lankans were bundled out for 111 in 20 overs with N. Shree Charani picking four wickets, and Deepti Sharma picking three.

It was Deepti’s two-wicket over, in the 10th, that was crucial as she removed Vishmi Gunaratne (20 off 22) and the dangerous Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu (36 off 32).
Earlier in the match, Shafali Verma smacked her 21st T20I half-century to set the base for a 184-run target for Sri Lanka. The opener also contributed with the ball, taking Hasini Perera’s wicket in the 17th over.
After this title triumph, the Indian team will travel to Aichi-Nagoya in Japan for the Asian Games, where the Women in Blue will begin their campaign from the quarterfinals.
