Womens Asia Cup 2026 Presentation Ceremony: A big drama was witnessed at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium after defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 and becoming champion for the record 8th time. During the post-match presentation ceremony, the Indian women’s cricket team flatly refused to accept the Asia Cup winning trophy from the hands of Mohsin Naqvi, President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Home Minister of the Government of Pakistan. Due to which Naqvi once again had to face embarrassment on the stage.
Harmanpreet’s team’s tough stance
Even before the match, there was apprehension that if India won, a controversy might erupt over Mohsin Naqvi taking the trophy. Last year, India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Men’s Asia Cup final. During that time too, the Indian team under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav had refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi and in the end Team India celebrated only with the banner of champions and without the trophy.
Even after the final of Women’s Asia Cup 2026, Harmanpreet Kaur and the Indian team maintained the same steadfast stance. According to the protocol, Naqvi was to hand over the trophy as the chief guest, but due to the tough stand of the Indian team, he could not hand over the trophy. Mohsin Naqvi remained standing on the stage during the presentation ceremony, but the Indian captain and players maintained complete distance from taking the award from his hand, due to which the medals of the runner-up players were given and then the presentation ceremony was ended.
India won the title in a one-sided manner
Batting first in the final match, India scored a huge score of 183 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. During this, Shefali Verma scored 68 runs in 39 balls with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes. At the same time, Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant inning of 59 runs. In response, the entire Sri Lankan team could only add 111 runs in 20 overs and were all out. From India’s side, Shri Charani showed the maximum number of 4 batsmen to the pavilion. Whereas, Deepti Sharma took 3 big wickets.
