A new powerful entry may soon be seen in the Indian SUV market. JSW Motors is preparing to launch its first SUV JSW Combat in the Indian market. According to reports, this SUV will be based on China's Jetour T2 and can be given a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The company may present it in the festive season of 2026. The biggest highlight of the SUV will be its potentially long driving range, which is said to be around 1,200 kilometers based on the global-spec model. However, the final features and specifications of the model coming to India will be clear only at the time of launch.
When will JSW Combat hit the market?
JSW Combat can be introduced as the company's first SUV in India. It will be based on Chery's Jetour T2 and is expected to be launched around the festive season of 2026.
Potentially its ex-showroom price could be between Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. However, no official announcement has been made by the company regarding the price yet.
Boxy design will give the look of off-road SUV
The design of the JSW Combat may be largely inspired by the Jetour T2. For the Indian market, the company can give the SUV its own identity by making some changes in the front grille, bumper and lighting.
Boxy profile, square LED headlamps, big bumpers and thick body cladding can be seen in it. The SUV is also expected to come with 20-inch alloy wheels and roof rails. At the rear, a vertical LED taillamp and a spare wheel can be found on the tailgate.
SUV will be premium from inside also
The cabin is expected to be provided with premium features along with a large display. If the global-spec Jetour T2 is considered as the base, then it can get a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 10.6-inch digital driver display.
Apart from this, features like 12-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also likely to be available. Features like panoramic sunroof, electric and ventilated front seat, ambient lighting and adaptive cruise control can also be provided in the SUV.
A 540-degree camera may also be available to make parking and driving in tight spaces easier. However, which of these features will come to the India-spec model will be confirmed at the time of launch.
Hybrid setup can give power up to 360hp
The most special thing about the JSW Combat may be its plug-in hybrid powertrain. It is expected to have a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo petrol engine, two electric motors and a 18.4kWh battery pack.
In the global-spec Jetour T2, this setup produces around 360hp of power and 610Nm of torque. It has a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.
The Combat is likely to be launched in India with a front-wheel drive configuration. However, information about whether there will be changes in the power output and powertrain of the India-spec model has not been revealed yet.
Claimed range up to 1200 KM
The most talked about thing about this SUV is its possible range. The plug-in hybrid version of the Jetour T2 is said to have a NEDC electric range of around 90 kilometers with an 18.4kWh battery.
Its advantage is that the driver can use electric mode in short daily journeys. With the combined use of petrol engine and electric motor, the total range of the global-spec model is said to be around 1,200 km.
However, this figure is related to the global model. Actual electric and total driving range of the JSW Combat when launched in India may vary. For this we will have to wait for the official announcement of the company.
